Dussehra Sweet Boxes: What to Send Family, Staff and Clients

Vijayadashami is the day Andhra households visit elders, shops and offices hold Ayudha Puja, and employers hand out sweet boxes. It is one of the busiest sweet-buying days of the year, and most of those orders are gifts rather than sweets for the home.

For family, an assorted box beats a single sweet. A mix of Kaja, Mysorepak, Boondi Laddu and one dry-fruit sweet gives every generation something they like, and it looks generous when the lid comes off. Half a kilo per household is the usual measure for close relatives.

For Ayudha Puja at a shop, workshop or office, the sweets are first offered alongside the tools, vehicles and machines, then shared out. Sweets that portion easily work best here: Boondi Laddu, Mysorepak or Kaja rather than soft milk sweets that need a plate and spoon.

For staff and clients, consistency matters more than variety. Every box should be identical, sealed, and carry your name. A 250 g or 500 g box per person is standard. Fix the budget per head first and choose the sweets to fit it, not the other way round.

Shelf life decides the menu when boxes travel. Ghee-fried sweets like Kaja, Ariselu and Laddu keep comfortably for several days at room temperature. Milk sweets such as Kalakand and Kova should be eaten within a day or two and kept cool, so leave them out of boxes that will sit in a car or a courier van.

Order early. Dussehra demand peaks in the three or four days before the festival, and large staff orders take time to pack. For twenty boxes or more, our bulk orders page has wholesale rates and box packs, and we will fix a delivery date with you in advance.
