Diwali Sweets From Andhra: What to Order and How Much

Diwali ordering goes wrong in two predictable ways. People order too little and run out on day two, or they order beautifully and choose sweets that do not survive the trip.

For gifting, choose sweets with structure. Tapeswaram Kaja, Gottam Kaja, Kobbari Louz and dry fruit sweets all travel well and hold their appearance for a week or more. They also photograph well, which matters more than anyone admits.

For serving at home during the festival, the softer milk-based sweets are worth it. Konaseema Kova, Milk Mysorepak and fresh Bandar Laddu are at their best within a few days and are wasted on a courier.

On quantity, a workable rule for gifting is 500 g per household for colleagues and neighbours, and 1 kg for close family. For the house itself, plan on roughly 250 g per person across the festival week if you are also making savouries.

Do not forget the khara side. A Diwali box of only sweets gets heavy by the third day. Agra Mixture, Chekkalu and Janthikalu balance the table and disappear faster than people expect.

Order early. The two weeks before Diwali are when every sweet shop in Andhra is at capacity, and the honest ones will tell you when they have stopped taking new orders rather than quietly delaying yours.

If you are ordering for an office or a large family gathering, bulk per-kilo rates work out considerably cheaper than individual boxes.
